NYAC, Life, Boston, SFGG
and Denver were all winners Saturday in the Super League.
The big result may well have been Boston, which upended 2-0 Chicago 24-22 in the Windy City to improve to 2-1.
Duran Vota, Marcus McAllister and Derrick Wavomba all scored tries for the New Englanders, while Nick Elrick converted all three and added a penalty goal. Chicago battled hard but were just edged in the end.
That result, plus NYAC's win over Old Blue, puts three teams at 2-1 with three games to go in the East.
“When you go on the road and put yourself under the pressure that we did against a really good team, we are happy with the win”, said Diamantopoulos.
NYAC got tries from Paul Jesseman, Seth Cohen, Brian Doyle, Tim LeNevez and BJ Hall in a game where their defensive pressure did the job.
In the next three games, NYAC plays Boston, the Lions and Old Blue.
The Lions take on Life, NYAC and the Chicago Griffins.
Boston faces NYAC, the Griffins and Life.
In the West conference, the Dallas Harlequins continue to struggle and dropped to 0-4 against Denver, who got their first win of the season.
Meanwhile, all three front row players scored tries for SFGG as they pushed and barged their way to a 34-14 win over OPSB that was much more competitive than the score might indicate.
