The top teams in New England all won as very little changed in the DI men's club competition there.
Middlesex overwhelmed South Shore, leading 31-0 at halftime and cruising 45-14.
No. 8 Jared Martinelli and flanker Michael Mahoney led a back row effort that was especially solid for the Barbarians, with center Vini Daley also playing well.
"We shift some players around," said Middlesex Head Coach Josh Smith. "After a couple of tough weeks it was good to rest some guys going into a bye week. So we're pretty pleased."
Mystic River overcame a worrying 10-8 deficit to beat New Haven 27-10. Meanwhile Boston Irish Wolfhounds had no such difficulties, beating Hartford 47-13.
"We were quite poor in the first half," said BIW Head Coach Fergal Hehir. "Especially the forwards. But we had some choice words at halftime, we urged the foreward to up the ante a bit, and the second half was much better."
Boston slammed Amoskeag 86-11.
BIW and Boston remain undefeated, now at 4-0, but won't meet for about a month. And then a week later, regardless of that game, the top four will play off.
