The second round of the Six Nations Women’s Championship occurred true to World Rugby rankings' form as all the higher seeds defeated lower placed opponents.
In the key matchup, France (2) soundly defeated Ireland (4) 18-6 in a game where the Irish scored no tries. Les Bleues have won this tournament before and need to sustain championship rugby if they are to remain competitive against the number one ranked nation, New Zealand. French fans numbered over 11,000 to see the match.
England (3) beat Italy (9) 33-24 away. The Red Roses, 2014 Rugby World Cup winners, gear up for the big game against France.
Finally, Wales (10) defeated Scotland (15) in a close 18-15 match. Wales lead 15-10 at the break.
The Six Nations returns February 27, a week after this weekend when the World Rugby Women’s Sevens offers its second round in Sao Paulo. Some fifteens players also double up, competing in the sevens circuit.
