Every year, Girls and Boys High Schools compete for the USA national championship.  The top tier Boys bracket often included perennial powers Jesuit, Sacramento, and Highland from Salt Lake City. The Girls were dominated by Divine Savior Holy Angeles from Milwaukee and Kent from Seattle.

The 2005 Boys Division also featured a Tier B championship in Stanford, California, which was won by unheralded Brownsburg in Indiana. Ranked third, the team beat the St. Louis Druids for the title, winning 20 17. The Druids proved to be the Cinderella side, starting the event ranked at the bottom in eighth place.

Brownsburg path to the title started with a 19-7 victory over East Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Then, they advanced into the semis against Xavier (NYC), the number two side. Brownsburg surged to a 24-10 lead and held on 24-22.

In the upper bracket, the Druids surprised the field by shutting out Budd Bay of Washington, the top ranked squad. The score was close at 5-0. Next up, was a win against the Los Angeles Cougars 7-5.

The LA team garnered third place with a 20-12 win against Xavier. Greenwich beat Doylestown for fifth place. Finally, Budd Bay defeated East Chapel Hill for seventh.
