Rye Rugby in Red and Black

Rye Rugby, Westchester, New York, won its second D2 high school championship 24-22 in a tight contest against Keio/FASNY (A combination of Japanese students at Kelo Academy playing with students from the French American School.). The match was played in Binghamton, New York.

Rye, whose program began in 2015, also won the state title in 2016. This was their third final appearance in three-years running.

Santi Mascolo, a recent Rye Rugby alumnus, now playing for Iona, was chosen for the Junior All American Team.  Rye's two senior captains will be playing next fall at Brown and Binghamton University. 

Rye Rugby is coached by Jim O'Hara.

Third place went to McQuaid who defeated Foothills 17-10.

In the D1 high school New York State championship, perennial rugby powerhouse Xavier defeated Fordham Prep 33-8. Their football contest - known as the Turkey Bowl - started in 1906 and is New York City's oldest scholastic sports rivalry.

Canisius defeated Kenmore 28-7 for third place.
